Zhao, Lian: Chinese Government Must Face the Problem of Contaminated Food

In recent years, Chinese people started to concern about the problem of food safety, nowadays, the astonishing poisoned food fill in people’s dining-table, such as poisonous milk powder, clenbuterol, gutter oil, rotten rice etc. In China, who can guarantee they and their family members have never ate these poisoned food? The victims of the contaminated food include elders, middle-aged people, youngsters, and even numerous children.
The economic backwardness of a country could be controlled and improved through 10 years, or 20 years; but the harm caused by food safety problem will not only hurt one generation, but also the descendents due to the damages of people’s health, which cannot be make up by a century. From this we can see how serious the danger of food safety problem is.
The problem of food safety has severely harmed the credibility of the government, reduced people’s sense of security, affected Chinese society’s stability, and the Chinese government would face a big challenge. I hope the Chinese government to improve the legislation of relevant laws, strictly implementing the enforcement of the law, in order to protect people’s health from the harm of poisoned food.
