Zhao, Lian: Urge Chinese Government to Emphasize the Protection of Forest

The problem of environment in China is getting worse year by year, the most obvious appearance is the sharp fall of the forest area, the plants and various living beings have suffered devastation and trample from human. In the rural area of China, since the government encourages folks to boost rural economy by all means, some farmers cut down trees in large-scale, which cause forests to gradually disappear. Media reports that in some parts of China, soil erosion is deteriorating day by day, desert area is escalating, and wetland is gradually turning into desert. The once verdant nature now could only see in the dreams.
In face of the deteriorating environment in China, environmental experts have gave warnings, along with the information revealed by network media, that since the consistent felling of trees the current forest coverage is just 12%, which account for half of world average 22%.
In the near future, Chinese folks will face the situation that the ecosystem collapses, forests disappear, and ecological crisis erupts. What contributes to the deterioration of the environment in China? It is the indifference of Chinese government. I urge Chinese government to emphasize environmental protection, improving the legislation and enforcement of environment law, enhancing relevant investment, to make a contribution to the environmental protection.
