Zhang, Zongping: Urge the Communist Party of China to Return the Right to Know to People

In current Chinese society, the Communist Party of China (CPC) interests group makes up an atmosphere of fake prosperity by using statistic data for the sake of its authoritarian ruling; all the levels of statistic department, from central to local, announce nothing but good news, and when comes to the end of every year for annual statistic report, they usually make false report to “achieve” annual plan goal; sometimes, three or four sets of data would exist in the same place and for the same issue, which are used to selectively report to higher authorities based on the needs of their interests; the statistic department of all levels are exist in name only, and are serving as a tool for the communist regime to boost authoritarian ruling; people mock the statistic data released by the Chinese government as “elastic band”, which could extend or contract willfully; now the people have lost confidence towards the statistic data published by the CPC authorities.
The communist authoritarian government took taxpayer money while deceives people by boasted statistic data; the phenomenon of boasting and exaggeration is prevailing in all levels of statistic department, I used to work in the bureau of statistic of Nanjing Liuhe district as a clerk, and I always suggested director to respect science, truth, and not to practice fraud, but what I got every time was the criticism from the director that “You are immature in politics”, and ordered to suspend my position as well as deducting my salary. This does not only bring the torture of mental and the loss of economic interest to me, but also, more importantly, damaged the basic human rights to Chinese people, which is a crime against humanity.
Based on my personal experience and feeling, I urge the government to end the history of boasting in statistic work in compliance of the statistical spirit of “seek truth from facts”, to open statistical market to private capital, and to return the right to know to the people; don’t let the prosperity of China only remains in the boasted data, making both the material and mental rights of Chinese people to meet the requirement of universal value; hoping the communist authoritarian regime to comply with the trend of the development of human history, ending all anti-humanity acts, in order to return the universal human rights to Chinese people.
