Chen, Jiming: We Cannot Forget the “June 4” Slaughter in 1989

The “June 4” slaughter has passed 23 years, back then the Chinese government took advantage of its absolute command power over the army to send armed force entering into Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and shot the students and citizens who participated in the sit-in that demanded the government to “Fight Embezzlement, Punish Corruption”, which leaded to the world-shocking “June 4th” Slaughter in 1989.
One fact in the “June 4th” slaughter in 1989 is that the Chinese army is killing its own people, which illustrates that the army has become a private force of the Chinese government. Today, we commemorate the “June 4th” event in 1989, for the purpose of awakening the Chinese people, especially for the ruling party of China, to correctly face the history. The army sent tanks, used machine rifles, to shoot the common people, so the government and the ruling party must admit their guilty.
For 23 years, some Chinese people have forgotten the hurt caused by the event; nearly no one ever mentioned the issue of the June 4th slaughter. The numb modern life pushes many people towards sinking, and leads the Chinese society to morality undone. The facts show that China needs democracy, freedom, human rights and the rule of law.
