Jin, Chengzhi: Corrupt Authoritarian System is the Root of Corruption
金成植(Jin,Chengzhi)
In current China’s society, corruption exists everywhere; officials no matter their levels monopolize the state power, which causes the power in their hands lose control due to the lacking of restrictions of law. The power losing control is absolute power, and the absolute power would definitely leads to absolute corruption, which is a common rule recognized by the world. During the 60 years ruling in China by the Communist regime, corrupt single-party autocracy made China one of the most corrupt countries around the world.
Government is the place where officials gathered, the government departments are the official circles. The most corrupt place in China is the official circle, that is, the government; official corruption leads to government corruption, and the ultimate factor to the government corruption is the corruption in social system. What the corruption brings to the people is unfair lives, because the burden of the corruption has to be taken by the people.
The people have suffered a lot due to the corruption, over the years, in order to comfort the people and stabilize the regime, Chinese government launched various anti-corruption measures, and set up specialized agencies in all levels of the government to curb the corruption. However, the corruption keeps getting intensified, and the number of officials who get involved in corruption is increasing. The Communist government should find the cause of corruption from the system, the corruption autocracy in China is the root of corruption; only by reforming China’s authoritarian system and practicing democratic freedom and the rule of law, could anti-corruption succeed.
