Liu, Feng: Only Democratic System could Stop Corruption in China Successfully
刘峯(Liu,Feng)
For more than 60 years, Chinese society has experienced several political movements. Especially during the 30 years after the opening and reform in China, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persist in one-party dictatorship; the credibility of the government falls year after year; Chinese social morality was destroyed; government officials are in collusion with businessmen; power are traded with money; official corruption become rampant.
The problem of corruption is not just for a few officials. The effective solution of anti-corruption is not to execute a few corrupt officials, but to solve the problem in Chinese social system. The leaders of the CCP are very clear that to punish every single corrupt official is not going to happen. Otherwise, who is willing to support the CCP in the long run? The party still needs to rely on the members of the CCP.
In order t o maintain the stability of dictatorship, the CCP have to permit some corrupt officials. Overwhelming corruption could expose the darkness of the CCP’s regime, and Chinese people would loss the faith in the CCP. In this case, the public wouldn’t allow corruption developed. As result, the Chinese government just shows the attitude against corruption, but never actually did it. Therefore, the only way to stop corruption is to establish a democratic system in China.
