Wang, Duo: To commemorate the June 4th event of 1989 for 23 years
王朵(Wang,Duo)
Twenty-three years ago, on June 4th of 1989, in the Chinese capital Beijing, the Chinese government used fully-armed army force with hundreds of thousands of troops, with tanks and armored cars, and with automatic rifles, left the Beijing City before dawn and drove into the Tiananmen Square. They brutally suppressed the participants of the demonstration “Punish corruption, call for reform”. Many citizens and students in the rally were died from gun shootings.
After 23 years, to many young people, the 89 “June 4th” event has become a historical symbol rather than direct memory. However, to those Chinese people who directly involved in the “June 4th” event, the “June 4th” has become a forever signature in their mind.
Twenty-three years later, we commemorate the “June 4th” event in many ways to remember those people who contribute their lives to a simple idea. Chinese people will never forget them, and the Chinese history will never forget them. Chinese people will never stop pursuing democracy and freedom. A new China with democracy, freedom, human rights, and legality will be achieved.
