Li, Shigang: Chinese government should pay more attention on environmental protection

When human beings enter the industrial age, natural environment was changed massively, and the environmental pollution was started. People may tame the nature, however, the conflict between people and nature became acute and global pollution became more and more serious. Especially in China, in order to develop economy, Chinese government destroyed the nature environment without any restriction. China has become one of the most polluted places over the world.
According to media reports, millions of Chinese people lack the access to clean drinking water, and most of them are dinking contaminated water. In addition, in many places, seriously polluted and smelly water is used to irrigate farmland, which contains high level of toxic substances. With polluted irrigation, agricultural production was served to every Chinese people.
Over years, Chinese people have improved understanding about environmental problems. People started to concern the problem of pollution, and pay more attention on environmental protection. We are asking Chinese government to strengthen environmental protection law, to propagandize the concepts of environmental protection, and to awaken people’s environmental awareness. Chinese government should invest more resources and money to make our environment more beautiful.
