Shi, Bin: Looking back at history, commemorate the 23 anniversary of the 89 "June 4th"

23 years ago in the spring and summer of 1989, in Beijing, China, tens of thousands of students and citizens took the meetings and processions on street. They asked the government to be anti-corruption and punish corrupt officials, and called on the government to carry out the reform of democracy and freedom. Eventually was tragic and violent repression of the Chinese army on June 4th. The campaign is widely known as a great 89 "June 4th" democracy movement.
Twenty-three years later, the Chinese government officials still lawlessness and corruption intensified. Today, the government officials, regardless of the size of official positions, almost everyone involved in corruption, and the corruption amount ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions as many as several hundred million dollars. Faced with such a large area of the corruption problem, as a government, not only does not reflect on the reasons of serious corruption, but also argued that corruption is inevitable. To face such remarks, should we have expectation for Chinese government? The answer is “no”.
We hope that the Chinese government does not forget the 89 "June 4th" period of history, and hope that the government will be able to fair and equitable to solve 89 "June 4th" event. On the occasion of the commemoration of the 23 anniversary of June Fourth, we strongly urge the Chinese government to severely punish corruption, democratic political reform.
