Zhu Xueqin: Improving Human Rights Situation in China
Zhu,Xueqin (朱雪琴)
The human rights issue in China, once improved, but the overall situation is not optimistic; Chinese people and many activists and human right organizations who pay a lot of attention still clearly remember that the Chinese Government has repeatedly promised to the international community to improve human rights situation in China. But many years have passed, the human rights situation in China still remains the same.
The root cause of China’s absence of human rights is that China has system problem. China is an authoritarian country; there is no democratic election in this country. Government officials do not know how to respect human rights, let alone how to protect human rights. It is a universal value to respect and protect human rights. In order to change the human rights situation in China, the government must do the following things:
First, take action. The government must renounce violence, and stop persecution, establishing a basic environment where they respect and protect human rights.
The second is to promote the reform of democracy and freedom, gradually change the social system. Once China has a democratic and free system, people would have the right to elect their government, elect their government officials, and will be able to fundamentally improve the human rights situation in China.
