Feng Qiang: Ask the Chinese Government to Improve People’s Human Rights
冯强(Feng,Qiang)
It has been 30 years since China’s economic reform. The economy has developed, major cities have built, the size of city has expanded, and demolition is happening in many areas. Government’s involvement in land acquisition and resettlement would affect people’s interest; some places the government just do it against people’s will. In the current Chinese society, every day there would be tragedies relating to land acquisition and resettlement. Suicide, self-immolation happened to some people whose land was taken. Some victimized people gathered together to against government; some tried to petition. Similar things are happening almost every day.
Demolition is inevitable in urban redevelopment. Respecting and protecting human rights should be an important principle for Chinese government. Under the premise of the protecting human rights, the government should not damage people’s interest, sincerely give a reasonable compensation to people, and make a reasonable arrangement.
Until now, there are still many political dissidents, human rights activists have been arrested or under close monitoring. We urge the Chinese government to renounce violence, stop terrorist, and stop abusing human rights. The Chinese government needs to show its sincerity to improve human rights, releasing all the political prisoners, establishing human rights reform, and building a public platform where government and people can talk. They have to establish a democratic constitutional county with a multi-party system.
