Chen, Ye: It is Chinese People’s Dream to have an Elected Government
陈晔(Chen,Ye)
It has been over 60 years since Chinese Communist Party’s foundation. But the government has never held any public election for all the people. The Chinese government knows that it is an authoritarian government, not a government elected by the public. It is not validity from law. Therefore, the Chinese government has long term banned Chinese people to elect, and there is no freedom of party, newspaper and speech.
Provisions in the Chinese Communist government’s Constitution shows people have their right to vote. However, from the way Chinese people get involved in the election and their actual operation process, the ordinary Chinese people only has the freedom to elect country, town representatives; they have no right to participate in the election of representatives of the National People's Congress or the election of high government officials.
The most basic, important, and core content of political reform in China is to implement a direct, universal and free election of government officials at all levels and National People’s Congress representatives at all levels. Since only by doing this, can people agree the political system. And the final result of democratic election is based on the number of votes. We ask the Chinese Communist government gradually change the existing political system, create a free liberal political environment for election, letting Chinese people really have the freedom of election.
