Zheng, Caitong: China Has to Pay More Attention on Environmental Protection in Order to Develop the Economy

The environmental problem in China is not optimistic. The government is developing economy without paying any attention to environmental protection. Many industries do not have adequate facilities to treat polluted water. The industrial wastewater from some factories is discharged directly; some industrial waste would be stacked in the natural environment. All these are destroying the ecological environment in China and also the whole world. The air in some areas is polluted; many clear rivers become muddy; the once blue sky has become grey; the green mountains are all gone.
We have already seen the serious consequences water pollution has bought. The Chinese government must take action, call on all the citizens to protect environment and care for their homes. Currently, what the government needs to do is: first, strengthen environmental legislation, increase investment in environmental protection; second, take measures to reduce industrial pollution; third, protecting forests and wetlands, protecting water resources. Everybody in the country has to be aware of a simple truth: environmental protection is the first step of developing economy.
