Dong, Lianchi: Chinese People’s Environmental Awareness must be Raised

In China, many people have a bad habit of throwing garbage as their will. Not only this, some Chinese people even brought this bad habit to the United States. Please take a close look at the areas centered by Chinese people, such as Chinatown, Flushing. It is easy to see Chinese people casually discard food package, paper, peel and so on. Why there is such a problem? The root reason is that these Chinese people have lived in China for such a long time, and they are lack of the basic moral quality, and no basic environmental awareness.
Chinese people＇s cultural quality is generally low. They do not have environmental protection training, and this has direct relationship with government’s education policy. In economically developed democratic countries, environmental protection is one of government’s important works. The only thing Chinese government care is developing economy; they do not care environmental protection. Waste gas, waste water and other waste are discharged without any treatment, which leads to the contamination and destruction of the natural environment.
Environmental protection is human being’s responsibility, and it is also every government’s important task. China is among the most polluted areas; Chinese government has to grasp the attitude of being responsible to human beings, advocate to protect environment, and improve people’s awareness of environmental protection, making contribution to environmental work.
