Du, Fucheng: A Public Elected Government must be Established in China
杜府成(Du,Fucheng)
A few days ago, the U.S. presidential election was over. The current president Barack Obama was reelected, and this election really makes me have a deep think. The process of the U.S. presidential election is very simple. First, Democrats and Republicans, respectively, choose their own presidential candidates, and all these presidential candidates would set up their own campaign team. Then they would publish campaign information, go to each state meet with voters, and make speeches in the public. On the election day, voters vote for their favorite presidential candidate, and national president is decided by the number of votes.
Chinese people do not have the right to vote, they have no right to choose the government, they have no right to select government officials. The country is Chinese Communist Party’s country; the government is Chinese Communist Party’s government; government officials are Chinese Communist Party’s officials. The highest leader in the country is appointed by few people inside the Chinese Communist Party; it does not need people to vote, and leaders’ power does not need to be monitored directly by the public.
Here, I urge the Chinese government to learn from America’s electoral experience, promote the country's political reform, so that Chinese people can be involved in politics. People can openly elect government officials, openly elect the country’s leader, and establish a democratically elected government in China. Only by doing this, can China’s human rights situation be truly improved.
