Chen, Yuming: Commemorating the 24th Anniversary of June 4th Event

Today, we overseas Chinese gathered together to commemorate the June 4th massacre, so that people can once again face the truth, seeing how the then Chinese government mobilize the armed forces and use violent means to kill students and the public there who demanded for anti-corruption. The June 4th historical event has passed 24 years, though the Chinese government fully blockade on pictures and words of the June 4th event, Chinese people’s step in pursuing of democracy would never stop.
A society without democracy and the rule of law will eventually be replaced by a democratic constitutional system. A democratic constitutional china would be born in this old china. We commemorate the June 4th massacre is to courageously pursue the value of democracy, freedom, human rights and the rule of law, and to establish a democratic China.
It has passed 24 years, we are still fighting for our freedom, and still fighting for the whole China’s freedom. Only more Chinese get involved in participating China’s democratic construction, can a free and democratic China be established. Our generation should not only see clearly the historical truth, but also see the great meaning of implementing democracy in China. We should tell all the Chinese that do not have any hope on the Chinese government. Only by ending the one-party dictatorship and establish a multi-party democratic and constitutional system, can similar events never happen again, and can China have hope.
