Wang, Cong: Urge the Chinese Government to Take Seriously on the Environmental Pollution Problem
王聪(Wang,Cong)
The Chinese government claims that China's economic development has created a miracle; hundreds of millions of people are out of poverty in just three decades. The current problem is that China’s overload economic growth leads to serious industrial pollution and environmental degradation. Today’s China, the air pollution is very serious. In many places, drinking water cannot reach the standard, and food safety accidents happen every day. China has become the most affected area in
environmental pollution and the most serious ecological damage zone.
China’s overdevelopment in economy has triggered a series of ecological crisis: glacial recession, drying up of rivers, the degradation of grassland, expand of desertification; biological reduction; and waste threaten. All these have caused some shocking living environment in China: the water stinks; fish is poisonous; rice and vegetable are uneatable.
China is world's most populous country, and also the fastest growing areas in economic development. 30 years ago, in order to develop economy, Chinese government has a misunderstanding in policy: taking economic construction as the center. This leads to a long-term neglect of environmental protection, leaving many sequels. China's environmental pollution has a potential threat to human beings. As an economy developed and populous country, Chinese government has to take seriously on environmental issues, and truly become an environmentally responsible government.
