Lu, Huimin: Prevent June 4th Event Happen Again

The 1989 democracy movement has passed 24 years, students and other citizens that year held rallies in the city street, shouting such slogans as "eliminating corruption", "implement political reforms". In the early morning of June 4th 1989, the Chinese government brutally suppressed this democratic movement.
Though this student-oriented pro-democracy movement has passed 24 years, hundreds of millions of Chinese people still remember this clearly. Every year, before June 4, people around the whole world would commemorate it in different ways. June 4th spirit deeply remains in people＇s memory. The main purpose of the suppression that year is to protect the interests of those in power. It helped government officials gain more time and space for corruption, which made government officials even bolder. Over the 24 years, corruption is over many areas in China. The distribution of the whole society is very unfair, the wealth gap is getting bigger and bigger, and the confliction between government officials and the public is becoming more striking.
June 4th movement has awakened Chinese people’s awareness of democracy, freedom and human rights, despite today＇s Communist regime still refuses to accept democracy and freedom, still abuses human rights. Chinese people’s step in pursuing democracy will never stop. They ask the government to take the responsibility of suppressing 1989 pro-democracy movement, carry out political reforms in China, and implement multi-party democratic constitutional system in China.
