Chen, Shuhua: June 4th Event is the Pain in Chinese People’s Heart

Ten days later would be the 24th anniversary of June 4th event in 1989. For the generation who had witnessed June 4th event, they have a deep and strong memory of the June 4th violent massacre. Among them, many publish articles online, recalling the scene that at least one million people walked on the streets in Beijing and they just had one appeal which was anti-corruption and political reform that year. Among these passionate people, most believed in government, thought that the government had the sincerity to accept their demands, the government could solve the problem of corruption, and also could promote political reform.
However, the cruel fact has completely broken people＇s fantasies. In the early morning of June 4th, the fully armed army entered city, and shoot some people to death; then also came the tanks, running over people who did not avoid fast enough. Even though, there were still people using their own bodies to block the advance of tanks…… those bloody scenes completely shattered people’s expectation.
After the June 4th massacre, everybody knew this government. As long as people went to street, they would be arrested and even shot. Since then, as long as people collectively to protest, even if it is peace and justice, or legitimate, the Chinese government would still suppress. According to the government＇s performance in these years, people do not have any hope on the Chinese government to correctly resolve June 4th event. June 4th has become the pain in Chinese people’s heart forever.
