Chen, Shuhua: Urge the Chinese Government to Deal with the Education Corruption

China’s corruption problem involves all walks of life. On this land, corruption like virus, it is pervasive. There is corruption even in education department, and its speed is irresistible. The main reason is that government officials’ authority in education department is lack of fair monitoring, and the education system is lack of fairness; the Chinese government is unwilling to spend more money on education. One hand, the government tries every mean to reduce investment in education; on other hand, the government tries to get rid of their responsibilities, force to make education like industry, school like enterprises, degree like commercials, and basic education like market.
Under such a policy, the government officials in education department just want to pursue interest, and carry out educational reform. The school has become a company, the president has become manager, and teachers have become salesmen. They use all kinds of means to collect money from students, for examples, remedial costs, information costs, tutoring fees, as well as school choice fees, sponsorship fees, professional fees and so on. The purpose is to obtain money. Today’s school is not a pure land. China’s education corruption has become popular, and education corruption makes people very sad.
Country＇s political system determines the direction of education. Only under a reasonable political system, the education department can be effectively managed, and education corruption can be effectively suppressed. Meanwhile, the government has to increase the investment in basic education facilities, and implement fully in compulsory education, let all the children accept basic education, and improve the country＇s overall level of education.
