Zhang, Junwang: Write Around the time of 23rd Anniversary of June 4th event in 1989
张俊旺(Zhang,Junwang)
Between spring and summer in 1989 in Beijing, there are hundreds of thousands students and citizens formed an assembly on the street. They used all kinds of banners in different sizes and colors, shouted slogans, asking the Chinese government to punish corruption, and implement political reform. All the major cities across the country had marches and rallies to support Beijing. Chinese people, represented by the students, used the same way to express their pursuit of democracy and freedom.
The democracy movement in 1989 was suppressed by the Chinese government. In the early morning of June 4th, the government mobilized the armed forces, deployed armored vehicles, using bloody and violent ways to massacre people involved in marches and rallies. Numerous students and citizens were shot and killed by soldiers, and many people died under the gun.
We commemorate the June 4th event in 1989; commemorate those who sacrificed their lives for democracy and freedom of the people. They are the real heroes. Though it has passed 23 years, June 4th event in 1989 has become a historical event, June 4th in 1989 is a brilliant chapter in the Chinese history. We believe, Chinese people would continue to pursue democracy and freedom, turn China into a democratic constitutional state.
