Xu, Huabin: CCP opposes freedom of the Internet as a basic human right

许华滨(Xu, Huabin)
The United Nations recently adopted a resolution to make free Internet access a fundamental human right.
That the Internet is conducive to the public access to useful information, but also access to education opportunities, the network for modern life is already a basic need.
The resolution called on all member states of the United Nations to ensure that every citizen of their country has the basic right to freely access the Internet.
The resolution was adopted by a majority of the UN member states but was strongly opposed by representatives of China, Cuba and Vietnam.
These countries believe that the government has the responsibility to block the dissemination of bad information to ensure that social security will not be disturbed.
Internet access to the public must be placed under the close supervision of the state, unlimited free Internet access is not allowed. The excuse of the CCP and these few autocratic states is actually a fear of people touching the outside world through the Internet, inspired by advanced values, aroused the awareness of democracy and human rights, and resisted autocratic dictatorship, thus affecting the stability of dictatorship.
But as the UN resolution says, people have the right to oppose human rights abuses, and the blockade of the authoritarian network will sooner or later be broken.
