Wang, Jinping:China needs freedom of speech
王金萍(Wang, Jinping)
The CCP’s "seven things cannot be said", some people say it is a great retrogression in history. It also shows that there is no freedom of speech.
The Chinese government requires university teachers to strictly restrict students’ attendance and refrain from talking about the “seven things” including universal values, freedom of the press, civil society, civil rights, historical errors of the Chinese Communist Party, the powerful bourgeoisie, and judicial independence.
The media and the public criticized that this is the first time that China has explicitly interfered in teaching content in recent years. It is a historical retrogression and violates the constitutional commitments made by the new leadership of the Communist Party of China.
The CCP used this absurd method to clamp down on freedom of speech, stipulating what citizens can and cannot say. It can be said that every civilized country in the 21st century is unique, marking that China is going back to a society ruled by man.
China’s current constitution stipulates that all power of the country belongs to the people. Citizens have the freedom of speech, publication, assembly, association, procession, and demonstration. Citizens have the right to criticize and make suggestions to any state agency and state functionary. The courts shall follow the law Independently exercise judicial power, free from interference by administrative agencies, social organizations and individuals.
Obviously, the "seven things that cannot be said" also contradict China's own laws.
It can be seen that China's need for freedom of speech is imperative.
