Shao,Yixiao:Why Communist Party of China (CPC)’s anti-corruption movement is a palliative
邵一校(Shao,Yixiao)
The latest CPC’s anti-corruption movement is a palliative, although it did catch several big fishes. Officials of ministerial level, deputy national level, even former national leaders had been arrested for corruption, the Chinese people applauded for this overdue action. There are several reasons why the latest CPC’s anti-corruption movement is a palliative. First of all, CPC always propagandize the Chinese people by saying that the government’s power should be contained within a cage of regulation, however, the Communist Party of China (CPC)’s one-part autocracy makes it impossible to be achieved. In the “game of thrones”, CPC is both a player and a referee, how can people expect that the CPC would behave impartial and just in the anti-corruption movement. Secondly, CPC does not allow the people involve and participate in the anti-corruption movement, the Central Commission for Discipline inspection which leads this movement is actually a puppet of the highest authority of CPC, the relationship within the CPC is complex, and the interests of all aspects need to be balanced, whether the CPC can make a thorough anti-corruption is still unknown. In the current China, the CPC’s official corruption is absolutely institutional corruption, in order to eradicate the corruption, the Chinese government must change its political system by reforming the one-party autocracy; the latest CPC’s anti-corruption movement is a palliative, fighting against corruption is a protracted war, it cannot be achieved overnight.
