Shao,Yixiao:Chinese government should lift its Internet regulation
邵一校(Shao,Yixiao)
Internet formally entered China in September 14, 1987. On that day, China was reconnected with the rest of the world. Chinese people showed unprecedented enthusiasm with the Internet, The Internet itself is attractive because it allows Chinese to re-understand the world, while the Internet spirt is more fascinating as it represents for freedom, equality, cooperation as well as participation. The Internet has many characteristics such as inexpensive, convenient, informative, unrestricted, etc., it gave Chinese people the opportunity to know the world, understand the world, and gradually integrated into the world. At the same time, people in foreign countries would able to comprehend China comprehensive. The Internet has such a positive and active role in promoting the Chinese civilization, since then, a closer relationship between the Chinese people and the Internet has established. When the internet entered China, the international community and people who longed for democracy and freedom placed high hopes on this matter, it is believed that with the development and popularization of the Internet, the Chinese government’s efforts to block news will gradually weaken, thereby advancing China’s democratization process. However, the cruel facts have disappointed people, the Chinese government has expended huge manpower, material and financial resources to build a wall to block Internet information. For a long time, the Chinese government has strictly monitored the internet network and scrutinized the content on the Internet. Internet has entered millions of Chinese households for decades, the Internet has a very important role for the promotion of democracy, freedom, human rights as well as the rule of law, Internet also boosts China's economic development and strengthen China’s connection with the world. We protest the Chinese government’s blockage of the Internet and demand that the Internet be opened in China. We believe that an era of open Internet and free speech has arrived in China.
