In recent years, there has been a trend of thought in Hong Kong colleges and universities demanding Hong Kong independence, and there is a gradual upward trend. There are more and more college students supporting Hong Kong＇s independence. There are often college students holding Hong Kong independence slogans in street gatherings.
The newly elected presidents of the student unions of several major universities in Hong Kong have also clearly stated their positions and do not oppose or even agree with Hong Kong＇s independence.
The fundamental reason for this phenomenon is that the CCP has openly perfidicated its promise and refused to directly elect the chief executive by Hong Kong people.
Originally, according to the Sino-British Joint Statement, the CCP promised that Hong Kong people could directly elect the chief executive in the future, but later changed it to only allow elections in small circles designated by the authorities. Hong Kong people have no other choice. This is simply to transplant the fake democracy of the mainland to Hong Kong. This caused extreme indignation from the people of Hong Kong and felt that they were deceived by the CCP, so they stood up to defend the values of freedom and human rights in Hong Kong. Among them, radical young students even shouted the slogan of Hong Kong independence.
In the future, as long as the CCP refuses to implement real democracy in Hong Kong, I am afraid that the trend of thinking for Hong Kong＇s independence will only intensify.
