The mission of intellectuals is not to ignore reality and to flatter the government, to sing praises without telling the truth, but to expose and criticize society in the light of moral conscience, to arouse vigilance and vision when discovering problems, and to guide people to continuously improve themselves.
It is a long-standing tradition of Chinese intellectuals to take the rise and fall of the country as their own responsibility, to ask for orders and to speak up for the people, to stir up the turbulence and promote the Qing Dynasty to point out the current affairs.
Since the establishment of the Communist Party of China, in order to implement dictatorship, suppress dissent, and brutally stifle the patriotic tradition of intellectuals, it has first suppressed and imprisoned through continuous political campaigns, forced literati to kneel and beg for mercy, and then used material to lure promotions and fortunes to win over allegiance. As a result, many intellectuals no longer care about the development of the current situation, lack public awareness, only think about themselves, just want to make a lot of money, how much status can they rise, how much benefit they can get in the future, and even tend to become a typical cynic intellectual.
