Liu, Funan:China’s Student Movement Named in History
刘福男(Liu, Funan)
In the 20th century, China was full of disasters. At the beginning of the century and at the end of the century, two great student movements occurred: "May 4th Student Movement" and "89 June. Fourth Student Movement".
During the "May 4th Student Movement", thousands of students took to the streets, calling for democracy and science, opposing imperialism, and criticizing feudal Confucianism.
The "89 June. Fourth Student Movement" is another student movement, the largest student movement so far under the CCP's autocratic rule.
Under the harsh one-party dictatorship of the Chinese Communist Party, students could not bear it any longer and took to the streets in anger, demanding the promotion of democratic politics, improving government transparency, opening up press freedom, and severely punishing corruption.
These student movements prove that China is not dying like other historical civilizations.
The emergence of the student movement shows that ancient China is still full of vigor and vitality! Still progressing towards social progress.
The student movement in China embodies the national spirit of the Chinese nation. She makes it clear that no matter how brutal and bloody the authoritarian regime is, the Chinese nation will definitely embark on democracy and freedom.
