Zhu,Fengxia:An Equal Society Must First Realize Political Equality
朱凤霞(Zhu,Fengxia)
Pursuing an equal society is a long-standing ideal of mankind. Many politicians and thinkers have made a lot of efforts for this.
Human equality includes political equality, economic equality, social equality, and moral equality, the most important of which is political equality, which is also a sign to measure a country's backwardness and advancement.
Political equality means that every citizen has equal political personality, can enjoy the same political rights and obligations, and has the right to vote and be elected, rather than only a few dignitaries can participate in state management.
In today's Western democracies, all citizens have universally enjoyed political rights, and political equality is no longer an issue.
However, in a few authoritarian countries such as the CCP, the government willfully deprives the people of their political rights. Ordinary people are excluded from the political life of the country. If they talk about politics for a little bit, they will be charged with falsely speaking about the central government, and they will be detained or imprisoned. In these authoritarian countries, political equality remains a long and difficult goal.
