|Wang，Yini: Democracy has different understandings
In the feudal society of China more than 3,000 years ago, the word "democracy" has emerged.
But "democracy" refers to the "minor of the people", the meaning of the monarch or bureaucrat, reflecting a feudal autocratic rule, which is completely different from the meaning of "democracy" in the modern sense of ancient Greece and the world.
The use of the concept of "democracy" in the Greek original and modern sense is only a matter of more than a hundred years in China.
With the continuous enrichment and development of modern democratic theory and democratic practice in the world, the connotation and extension of "democracy" has also been increasingly enriched and expanded. The word "democracy" has now become a concept that people use in a very broad sense.
Modern democratic society has been linked to human rights, freedom, fairness, the rule of law, and prosperity. Human rights are considered to be a top priority.
