Because, if we want to completely eradicate smog, public opinion propaganda can no longer report good news but not bad news, party and government agencies can no longer operate in a black box, and civil rights defenders can no longer be arbitrarily detained and imprisoned. All these will promote the development of political democracy in mainland China.
In other words, social change and development are natural phenomena and cannot be stopped by any authoritarian force.
