                            Jiangming Liang: Freedom of Speech is a Base for a Credible Society

       Freedom of speech is a very important mean to maintain a country’s system, especially to a democratic system. In China’s many elections, the candidate never give any speech. The people have to choose their officer by their appearance, clothing or many irrelevant factors. This kind of democracy is meaningless. The most basic condition for democracy is the citizen and the government. The candidates and the people should have basic communications. Otherwise, it is not a reasonable democracy, or have no democracy.

      The country which allows freedom of speech must be truthful to its society. if any comment is suppressed, and no one to speak the truth, how can a society be credible? When you face a camera and are asked to speak your thought, what would you say? You can say nothing. The government enforce you to speak words against your will. How can such society a truthful and credible society?
