Jianming Liu: There is No Speaking Place for China’s Farmers
China’s farmers live in familiar and close places. Everyone is living in others’ eyes, and knows each other from the appearance to the heart. Although the rural society has changed and many farmers are no longer use their farm for their basic living, they still remains a strong rural trait. Their situations can be understand by themselves but not the governmental officials.
In fact, the China’s farmers want to say, but don’t know how to say it. It is partly due to farmers’ expression ability. Farmers have no clear view of their situations, and lack reasoning. They can deeply feel the bitterness, but besides curses and sigh, they cannot clearly express themselves. They don’t know how to speak out with reasonable and aggressive words. Their education limited their expression. They also have no place to speak out. The offers can speak in a meeting, journalists speak in the media, scholars speak in classroom, and critics speak on the website. Where can farmers to speak up? They have no place or forum for themselves. Forum is the place to express, because China’s farmers don’t have their forum, they lost their right to speak.
