Chi,Lanmei: Chinese Government Should Correct Breaches of Constitution
The Chinese government claims itself to serve the people and is powerful enough to presume that it can never violate personal freedom of citizens and, therefore, need not be supervised or balanced. Although it is stipulated in the Constitution that personal freedom of citizens is not to be violated, but there is no stipulations regulating the powers of the government. The Constitutional is incomplete and lack of reinforcement procedures and measures. When the law is imperfect in itself, it receives less respect it deserves; and the enforcement of law is short of human right spirit more than the law itself.
Personal freedom of Chinese citizens suffered serious violations, which becomes very miserable.
All the past political movements, without exception, were at the cost of violating personal freedom of citizens in a large scale, which caused corporate and spiritual damages and even abnormal deaths. Some lucky ones were later “Redressed”, but no one was reimbursed. In the Tian An Men Incident in 1989, the Chinese government launched personal attacks to citizens causing a lot of deaths and injuries. It has never been reviewed according to law, and the victims are still suffering from reputations of : Reactionary Terroists” Such long uncorrected constitutional breaches testify that Chinese Constitution is facing crisis.
