                      Ding, Baolai: The Foundation of Democracy: Speech Freedom and Press Freedom

The purpose of Democracy is to ensure that everybody has the right to express themselves freely. This is the objective of democratic society and the means to maintain the democratic system. At present, the western societies have a means to fully enforce this system. The democratic counties have let it people to fully enjoy the speech freedom and press freedom in order to ensure the government to take the right action and carry out the right policies. In China, it is import for the government to allow speech freedom and press freedom to let people have the right to express freely and have the right to know how the government to make its policy.  

The advantage of press freedom is to let people have the right to know what is going on and how the government to establish the policies. The advantage of speech freedom is to let people to express themselves freely. These are the basics of democracy. If there is no such two means, the so-called democracy must be a fake one. Under the fake democratic system, the real society stability cannot exist. Therefore, the first thing in China is to allow the speech freedom and press freedom if they want to establish the democratic system in China.
