Zhang, Min: Chinese Government must Make Pinch Pennies on Olympic Games
In 2008 the 29th Olympic Games will be hold in August in Beijing, China. Olympic period is the most crucial moment, the conflict between Government and people is inevitable. Before building stadiums, ordinary people＇s houses must be demolished. Government should really serving the community, first for the benefit of the people at the same time the Government has the responsibility to the people for positive publicity, because the sport can’t create wealth by itself, but consume the wealth. The aim to develop sports is to provide people with environment in which people can do physical exercises strong.
Of course, modern sports have the entertainment function, the health of the public entertainment. But as a government, sports spending are not necessary, especially not for the people in the fitness, occupational and commercialization of the sports, they are not items that government want to spend money. Government’s money come from the people, so government has the responsibility and obligation make pinch pennies. Especially at the moment that 900 million farmers in the rural areas of China have no any survival protection, and nearly 100 million people are lack of clothes and food, suffering hunger and cold.
