Zheng, Yu: Environmental protection can’t be ignored when developing economy
Paying attention to environmental protection is a worldwide common goal. As the biggest developing country, China hasn’t fulfilled the responsibility to protect environment. With the slogan of reform, opening-up and developing economy, China has disregarded environmental protection, destruction of natural ecosystem for a long time. A lot of wastewater and exhaust gas is drained to nature without any processing and caused serious environmental pollution and threats to people’ health and lives in many places in China. Chinese government’s behavior to deal with environmental protection aroused international community’s worry.
Many countries established laws on environmental protection one by one, and hope Chinese government to legislate on environmental protection, and to fulfill the scientific concepts of people-oriented environmental protection, and to encourage people to protect environment, raise people’s environment-protecting awareness and effectively control pollution caused by economic development. This is what Chinese government must do to fulfill the responsibility that a great country should take.
