PORTLAND, Ore.—For more than a century, Portland, “The City of Roses,” has been known as one of the favorite destinations in the West. On January 20, just a few of days before the Chinese New Year, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) made its Portland debut in the 3,000 seat Keller Auditorium, located in a European-style charming old town on the bank of the Willamette River.

To promote a renaissance of 5,000-year-old Chinese traditional arts and culture, New York-based DPA has embarked on a world tour to over 20 countries, including dozens of cities in the United States.

Divine Performing Arts’ production depicts ancient Chinese legends that come alive through classical Chinese dance.

Ms. Renee Kimball was among many audience members who were very favorably impressed by the show.

Ms. Kimball is a professional iconoclast, freedom vocalist, and producer of Freedom TV, which has been described as television that “gives you hope and refreshes your soul.”

She thoroughly enjoyed the show and was very pleased to “have an opportunity to see some of this incredible classical dance and the movements that are so amazingly contemporary.”

Ms. Kimball had seen “a lot of performances and a lot of dance here in the United States and in other countries, but these movements, they just grab you, they just grab your heart, and it’s just amazing what this kind of performance can do.”

She continued enthusiastically: “You can tell that the people who are doing it are so entirely committed, not only to just putting on a good performance, but bringing a message along with the performance, and that’s the part that just shines through.”

The performance gave Ms. Kimball the impression that “you have a connection that spans time and place, race, people, and age, and it just spans everything. … It’s a connection of the heart, which makes you feel like the whole world is really not just one kind of being, but one heart, one hope, one feeling inside of yourself that transcends all of what’s going on.”

She was astounded by the mighty power of the vocalists’ voices: “They are on par with any Western performers I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen a lot of performing. They’re amazing.”

Renee was especially moved by the story about the long-lasting persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China. “I know about that,” she said with sadness and indignation.

In conclusion, Renee Kimball said: “It was a very inspiring performance; people are so dedicated to what they are doing. I feel particularly blessed that I’ve gotten an opportunity to see it. I am very thankful for being here.”

The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Divine Performing Arts International Tour.
