Liang, Dewei: Chinese government must emphasize on environmental protection
International society and environmental protection organization has ever warned the problem existed in Chinese environment many times, and claimed Chinese government to increase the investment on environmental protection and legislate on it while paying much attention to economic construction. Especially after 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, voice from international aspects are getting higher and higher that substantive actions must be taken on protecting environment, but Chinese government didn’t pay much attention to it. If the speed of Chinese pollution keeps going on like this, the economic loss that each year would bring will far more than its investment in environment. In other words, the economic achievement since reform and opening-up will all destroyed by the hand of deteriorating environment.
The serious consequences which are resulted from Chinese environmental pollution and food security have seriously affected the bottom people’s lives, and Chinese government almost cares nothing about basic living condition of those poor and powerless people. Nowadays, one third of city air is seriously polluted, and one fourth water quality that nationwide people drink has not reached the basic standard of cleanliness. Nearly an incident of water seriously polluted happened every other day. Chinese government must begin to pay for the environmental protection; otherwise, the day of Chinese economy totally collapse will come sooner or later.
