Zhou, Yuan: Chinese government should improve the legislative and executive work of environmental protection
We have only one world, it is our human beings’ common family, protecting the environment is our responsibility; the speed of China developing economy is tremendous, and so it is with destroying environment. Some mass media reported that there are a couple of serious polluted cities in China of which in the survey of the whole world. Some local government discharge industrial waste water that is without proper treatment, and a majority of lakes and rivers are polluted.
Recently, Chinese government has realized the importance of environmental pollution, and also put a large amount of money on environmental treatment to improve our environment. As a matter of fact, these measures are not sufficed to solve pollution problems which are remained in the past.
The point of Chinese environment not being ameliorated fundamentally is the executive work of environmental protection is not strict enough. Some government officials are negligent of their duties and wide-eyed at the sight of money, but adopting penalty instead of system upon the problem of environmental protection. Since there is a defect exists in the current system, then the treatment of Chinese environment is almost nonsense. Chinese government should improve the legislative and executive work of environmental protection, and should fulfill its responsibility as a major country in environmental protection.
