Chen, Baiyi: Chinese society must have relaxed environment of freedom of speech
Chinese government doesn’t allow its people have their own political opinion, as well as freedom of speech; the whole society has no space for speech, which is to say that people cannot express their views through media. However, people who live in western democratic countries where its constitution endow them the right to speak, they can criticize government and its officials unmercifully; they can express their suggestions for government through councilor or parliament; they can impeach government officials even president who they don’t trust; people’s freedom of speech of democratic country are protected by law.
Currently, Chinese society should open up freedom of speech to let people truly have the right of freedom of speech that is endowed by constitution, and to let basic concept such as democracy, freedom, human rights, ruled by law, fairness and rich are spread out through relaxed environment of freedom of speech, and then promote the development and progress of Chinese society’s moral and culture.
