Tian, Lu: Chinese government should place environmental protection in significant position

China is one of the regions which are highly developed; since the developing economy, energy consumption will keep on raising sharply, which takes great pressure to the local environmental protection, though the environmental awareness is increasing. Let’s see what happened to China: Yellow River is drying, Tibetan snow mountain is melting; the recent decade years are the highest period of temperature in China in nearly hundred years. These phenomena indicate clearly that climate change is seriously affecting China.
The reason is that Chinese government has always put economic development onto a position which is higher than environmental protection. What CCP official says is that there are still tens of millions of Chinese people live in poverty, and economic development is favor of reducing impoverished population; and it is not fair to sacrifice economic development to decrease waste gas emission. However, environmental protection would be a severe problem if “economic development” is put in the highest position. Chinese government always talks about sustainable development, but the conflict between economic development and getting rid of environmental pollution is still a hot potato.
