Chen, Yuanjie: Government should talk with people on human rights
It has been over half a year of the Olympic Games in 2008; Chinese human rights still stay the same as before: the government continues to press the petitioners, persecute dissidents, human rights defender and religious people, as well as Chinese democrats.
The basic characteristic of democratic countries in the world is people can take part in the management of country and government by owning human rights. This is the democratic freedom in democratic country. There is no democracy without human rights.
Chinese people are more likely to talk with western people. Actually, what Chinese government should talk to is not western country and government but Chinese people, are those petitioners whose basic human rights are deprived, those people who are forced to leave their home by violently broken house, and those old, weak women who lost basic life guarantee. These people are the people Chinese government should talk to.
The talking between Chinese government and its people can not only mitigate the contradiction between government and people, but promote the progress of Chinese democracy, freedom, human rights and ruled by law.
