Since the decades of Chinese reform and opening up, a lot of information flood into China by means of media. It makes the Chinese people's awareness for freedom of speech raised gradually. Today, the Chinese people's growing awareness of the freedom of speech and the backward system form a sharp contradiction. The Chinese people request for the full liberalization of freedom of speech, the issue of different voices, and also ask for the government to allow public supervision and criticism to the ruling government and officials. It urges the Chinese government to self-examine the current environment. It also reflects the growing demand for freedom of speech among the Chinese people. It is a challenge to the Chinese Communist regime and its restriction to Chinese people’s freedom of expression.

Although the Chinese government has enacted a provision of the Constitution that the people have the right of free speech, this provision has never been effectively implemented. The Chinese government never allowed people to express their different point of views, to criticize the government and officials. This circumstance leads a confrontation between the people and government which also cause the long-term instability of the Chinese society.

In general, the Chinese government should comply with the tide of history, and return the entire freedom of expression to the public. It is the only effective way to build a harmonious Chinese society.
