Chuanbin Zhang: Chinese Government must place importance on environmental protection

Along with the fast development of china’s economy, the environmental pollution becomes more and more prominent. The government focuses on development and economy efficiency, but neglects the importance of environmental protection. Today’s Chinese government proposes that developing economy is the prime task of the whole country. As a result, all levels of government stress on the output value and pursue economic benefit blindly. They directly discharged industrial gaseous and liquid wastes; this caused the drying up of underground water resources, severe air contamination, climate abnormality, and increase of successive sand storms.

China has become the most seriously affected area of environmental pollution in the world. One hand, the industrial scale is expanding and growing; on the other hand, the environment is deteriorating: earthquake, flood, and drought…such natural disasters are occurring frequently. Chinese government must understand that: the serious environmental pollution problem is impeding China’s economic development; giving weight to environmental protection can’t be postponed any more.
