Heili Zeng: Chinese government should loosen its control of freedom of speech

The general public of China can’t give their speeches publicly. This is because the government forbids their civilians to publicize different opinions, and prohibits them from revealing the dark side of the society, not to mention to criticize the government or the authorities. The purpose of so doing of the CCP is beautified as stabilizing the status and uniting the citizens, and yet, in reality, that is to control their citizens’ thoughts, behaviors and talks in order to maintain its autocratic ruling power.

It is a common sense that, everyone is entitled to the right of free speech and freedom of speech is a critical component of the human rights. Other people have no right to interfere one’s speech, nor can they force one not to speak. In a society, people should associate with each other equally and the government should respect the masses’ rights to talk freely and allow the masses to express different opinions and ideas. Chinese government should loosen its control over freedom of speech and return the freedom of speech to its general public.
