Zhang, Mingyuan: Powers of Officials Have to Be under the Restriction of Law
张明远(Zhang,Mingyuan)
China has a social hotbath for corruption, its social system, in which Chinese government officials fixate their eyes on the pursuit of money, personal gains, luxury consumption and exaggerated enjoyment, hence producing batches of corruptive and money-driven public servants. Such phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that these officials enjoy abosulte powers under the current dictated system, also the reason for its toughness to handle.
Such severe corruption among Chinese governments officials is without questions to harm the national interest as well as the well-beings of Chinese people. Thus its harmfulness speaks for itself. Today, Chinese people call for the punishment of those corruptive officials and restore fairness and just for them. Seeing how other nations in the world tackle this problem tells us that only through the establishment of a democratic constitution system which comprises the separation of three powers (judicial, legislation , executive) and the rotating governance of multi-parties can effectively crack down corruption.
In the democratic system, government officials should put their powers under the scrutiny of people as well as the restriction of rule of law. Therefore, when officials are exercising their powers, they will behave themselves better, discipline themselves from corruption under the principle of protecting the interest of China and Chinese people.
