Wang,Guohua: The Establishment of Freedom of Speech Will Benefit China’s Development

Chinese Communist Party has ruled China for 62 years, during which though the economy has grown, the freedom of speech has not yet enjoyed Chinese people. Today, Chinese people cannot freely express themselves, especially those opinions or passages related to government, which are not allowed to be published publicly because of the restrictions imposed by government in terms of voicing opinions. Ordinary people are not allowed to criticize government’s inactions, disclose officials’s disciplinary offences and even judge inadequate political system.
Media such as newspaper and TV are also under the strict control of the government. People can only say what the government allows the media to report. Once offended this rule, the “offender” will not only be punished but also prosecuted and threated or even arrested, imprisoned and tortured by police. In these cases, those dissidents tend to end up disabled or died. So Chinese government has deprived of its people’s freedom of speech completely.
In the present Chinese society, what people see is prosperity, what they hear is positivity. It seems that everything is on track and in harmony. However, the fact that Chinese Communist Party deprive people of rights to freedom of speech is utterly against the evolvement law of human society. We are hereby calling for openness and freedom of speech in Chinese society.
