In recent years, there has been a trend of thought demanding Hong Kong’s independence in Hong Kong colleges and universities. Moreover, this independent trend of thought has gradually increased, and more and more college students are supported. There are often college students holding slogans demanding Hong Kong’s independence in street gatherings.
The newly elected presidents of the student unions of several major universities in Hong Kong have also clearly stated their positions and do not oppose or even agree with Hong Kong’s independence.
The fundamental reason for this phenomenon is that the CCP refuses to directly elect the chief executive by Hong Kong people.
Originally, according to the Sino-British Joint Declaration, the CCP promised that Hong Kong people could directly elect their chief executive in the future. However, it was later changed to only be elected in a small circle designated by the authorities. Hong Kong people have no other choice. The transplantation to Hong Kong caused extreme indignation among the people of Hong Kong and felt that they were deceived by the CCP. Therefore, they stood up to defend the value of freedom in Hong Kong. Among them, the radical young students even shouted the slogan of Hong Kong＇s independence.
This is the reason why Hong Kong＇s independence trend is rising.
If the CCP refuses to implement true democracy in Hong Kong, it can be seen that the trend of Hong Kong independence will only intensify.
